Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join the Senior Management Team within Library and Learning Support, to develop and to implement the strategy for our collection procurement and development to 2025. A key part of this role is to manage the acquisitions, systems and resources budgets which are worth over £2 million pounds annually.

Our collections are wide ranging in content, media and scope, reflecting the University’s teaching, research and professional practice. Our systems include a Capita Library Management System; Talis Aspire reading lists; Eprints repositories; EBSCO EDS discovery system and Parabilis e-procurement.

Your leadership and vision will help to shape the way in which the library’s collections are developed, discovered and optimised to best advantage by our students and staff. This activity will support the reshaping of the library built environment as defined by a new campus library, opening in December 2020. Your experience of data management and governance issues will contribute to the ongoing development of our open access and research data. You will contribute to the overall development of library services strategy as part of the Senior Management Team and also contribute to the wider cross-service Academic Services Management Team.

Excellent communication skills are required to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and to respond to user feedback to support the ongoing development and enhancement of our library systems and services. You will have excellent leadership skills and proven experience of managing a team and supporting staff development.
