Assistant Information Adviser (22 hours per week)

 

Location: Brighton - Falmer

Salary: £26,715 to £30,046 pro rata 22 hours per week

Contract Length: 12 months

 

Do you want to provide excellent customer service to students and staff in a busy academic library?

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic information professional, with a professional qualification in library/information services, to join our team at Falmer Library, based in Brighton. You will draw on your experience of working in a library or similar service to support staff and students at the Falmer campus across the Health, Education, Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines.

Experience of working in a Higher Education library and of delivering information skills training to students would be beneficial.

The successful applicant will contribute to the preparation and delivery of Information Literacy sessions, using appropriate technologies for teaching and learning in Higher Education. You will have the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of the subject areas taught at Falmer campus to inform collection development practices. You will actively engage with academic staff to support them with reading list management and the procurement of new resources. You will have a sound understanding of electronic information sources and standard office applications, and you will be interested in learning and developing with the confidence to learn new skills as required.  

This is a part time post of 22 hours a week to be worked Monday to Wednesday, as part of an existing job-share arrangement, and is fixed term for 12 months. It includes some evening and weekend working for which appropriate enhancements will be paid. Working hours may differ slightly during vacation periods.
