CITY OF LONDON FREEMEN’S SCHOOL
£11,740 to £15,830 per annum (FTE £21,920 to £29,550)
12-month Fixed-Term Contract, 22 hours per week, term time only
Required for November
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to join our small team at CLFS. We have two lovely libraries on site, a Junior Library serving Years 3-8 and a Senior Library for Years 7-Sixth Form. Both libraries are lively spaces at the heart of the School, in constant use for research and reading by all age groups and subject departments.
Our new Assistant Librarian will enjoy working with children and have a keen interest in literacy and children’s literature. We are looking for someone with a sense of humour and a passion for inspiring our pupils to develop wider reading interests and independent learning skills. The successful candidate will be flexible, creative and imaginative as we are constantly seeking to develop the service we can offer to the School population. Strong IT skills and a working knowledge of current technologies, particularly in their application to libraries are essential. This role would suit a self-starter with proven organisational skills. Experience of working in an academic environment and/or a library qualification is desirable but not essential.
Normal working hours are 22 hours per week over 4 days, term time only plus 15 days in the holidays. However, the successful incumbent will be expected to be flexible and work additional hours depending on the School’s requirements. The Libraries are open between 8.30am and 6.00pm so a shift pattern is in operation.
This role is a Career Grade B/C on the City of London Corporation of London Scale with a pro-rata salary of £11,740 to £13,290 for Grade B and £14,670 to £15,830 for Grade C, inclusive of Outer London Weighting. Grade will be determined according to qualifications, skills and experience. The post is offered initially on a 12-month fixed term basis but there may be potential to extend.
Closing date for the receipt of completed application forms is 12 noon on 5 October 2020.
