Job Description

Christ’s College invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the full-time, temporary post of ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN, to cover a maternity leave. Joining a library team of 4 (including this post), the role reports to the College Librarian and supports the efficient day-to-day running of all areas of the Library.

Serving approximately 400 undergraduates, 200 post-graduates and 80 Fellows, plus visiting researchers, the library’s collections comprise its modern collection, the rare books and manuscripts collection housed in the Old library and including first editions by John Milton and Charles Darwin, and the law library. With particular responsibility for the acquisition of modern printed, this post would suit an experienced team player with the ability to work pro-actively and effectively with a wide range of library users. In addition, the library is currently undertaking cataloguing of its 19th and early 20th century collections. The postholder will be expected to contribute to this effort. 

The salary for the post is £23,487 - £27,116 per annum, which equates to points 29 to 34 on the University of Cambridge single salary spine.
Benefits include 36 days’ holiday per annum (inclusive of bank holidays); membership of a contributory pension scheme, free membership of the College gym, and free meals in College whilst on duty. Parking is available at the College although not guaranteed.
