Job Description

Assistant Librarian

Permanent and part time during term time (2 days per week)

For 1 September 2021

The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London.  The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work.  The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.  The School’s Library is very well resourced and it is a highly popular area for students and staff alike.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an appropriately qualified and, ideally, experienced Assistant Librarian for a part time job share role commencing 1 September 2021.  Duties of the role will include but are not limited to; maintaining an appropriate learning environment, dealing with queries from students and staff, ensuring Library users know how to use the Library’s equipment, assisting with Library lessons, shelving, tidying, cataloguing and repairing books, identifying and making available further resources, and deputising in the absence of the Librarian.

This role may be of particular interest to students in a relevant field who might be keen to gain experience in a highly academic independent school with a view to considering a career in education, looking to enhance their academic studies and providing opportunities to put theory into practice.

This is a part time position for two days per week during the term time.  The two Assistant Librarians provide support for the Library and for the Librarian.  The Library is open and staffed from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 5.00pm on Fridays during the term time on a rota basis.  The role therefore includes sole supervision of the Library at times.  Working days/hours will be discussed at interview stage and agreed on appointment.

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
