Assistant Librarian

Full-time permanent role - 35 hours per week. 

£42,900

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Librarian to support the planning and delivery of core Library services to members of the Inns of Court.

This role is based within the Library, with scope for occasional remote working.

In this role, you will provide a professional enquiry service, deliver legal research training, support and develop communications and outreach, and assist with collection management.

We would like to hear from qualified librarians who enjoy working collaboratively and can communicate with confidence. You must hold a university-level qualification in library or information studies and have previous law subject experience gained in the UK.

Gray’s Inn is one of the four Inns of Court, the historic societies which educate and train barristers in England and Wales. A non-profit organisation, the Inn provides scholarships, education, and library services to students and barristers.

 

Gray’s Inn Library

The Library houses over 75,000 books, journals, and law reports, including rare books and manuscripts. It provides the full range of standard legal sources and maintains the only specialist collection in international law for the Bar. The Library also offers access to online resources, a professional enquiry service, a document supply service, and legal research training.

 

Duties include

  • Providing a professional enquiry service using print and online resources
  • Delivering legal research training, including as part of the ICCA Bar Course
  • Maintaining and developing legal research training materials and guides
  • Contributing to the development of Library communications, events, and outreach activities
  • Supporting collection management and the cataloguing workflow
