The post holder will supply information, dissemination, procurement and resource training into a specific customer base within MoD Main Building, Whitehall. As a qualified librarian, the position will be in a library structure which will also include library desk shifts, projects and professional development.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week
Salary is £27,200 plus London Weighting allowance.
You will be adept at internet searching to conduct current awareness services. In addition, you will be a communicator who is happy to lead on information skills sessions for our customer base. These may be in person or via Microsoft Teams. While good IT skills will be paramount excellent communication skills are essential and the ability to discuss information provision with a wide range of customers will assist in being successful in the role.
You must have a CILIP approved qualification or an overseas qualification recognised by CILIP as equivalent. Alternatively, have achieved CILIP certification (ACLIP) & have equivalent experience of professional information work or have an NVQ level 4 ( or equivalent) in Librarianship.
Supplying a time critical information service into the customer via the internet and IT infrastructure. Train customers and embed in their teams where needed. Conduct roving librarian services, as well as conducting shifts in the Whitehall Library.
The capability to deliver at pace and concentrate on a specific task will be beneficial. However, all training will be given which may include off site residential sessions.
You must have a Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) approved qualification or an overseas qualification recognised by CILIP as equivalent. Alternatively, you will have achieved CILIP certification (ACLIP) and have equivalent experience of professional information work or have an NVQ level 4 (or equivalent) in library and information studies plus experience of professional information work.
