We are seeking to recruit a part-time Assistant Librarian to join our friendly library team based at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

It really is an exciting time to join the The Royal Horticultural Society, we have just opened our fifth garden in Salford, nr Manchester and invested millions of pounds to improve the facilities at our flag ship garden in Wisley, Surrey.

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional librarian to deliver efficient library services to our library users, both on site and online.

RHS Libraries provide services to researchers and academics, general and professional gardeners, horticultural students, families and children, all needing information adapted to their level.  We are digitising selected resources and increasing electronic access to information for RHS staff and students. Over 80,000 visits are made to the libraries each year and staff respond to some 18,000 enquiries from all over the world on a wide variety of subjects connected to horticulture.

The successful candidate will be part of a team delivering high-quality enquiry and lending services to library users, undertaking in-depth research efficiently and effectively. You will provide assistance to library users, promote the library’s digital offer and work with, train and supervise library volunteers. You should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, a working knowledge of library management systems and a high level of IT literacy.
