Assistant Librarian
Peterhouse is the oldest College in Cambridge (founded in 1284) and is among the smallest (currently 291 undergraduates; 176 postgraduates; 43 Fellows).
The College is seeking to appoint an Assistant Librarian for the Ward Library, the College’s working library. The Assistant Librarian provides professional support and assistance to the Librarian, deputising for them when required, and contributes to the day-to-day running of the Library. Reliability and the ability to work accurately are essential for this post, as are excellent communication and customer service skills.
The duties of the post include working at the enquiry desk, cataloguing, book processing, collection development and managing journal subscriptions. The successful candidate should have experience working in a library (preferably academic), a good standard of education to degree level or equivalent, a professional library qualification (Masters or Diploma in Library and Information Studies or equivalent) or equivalent training and experience.
The salary for the post will be in the region of £28,447-£33,998 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The hours of the post are 36.25 hours per week, taken 8:45 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
