Assistant Librarian

Part time, 18.5 hours per week

£23,067 to £25,941 per annum, pro rata

(Actual Salary £11,533 to £12,970 per annum)


The modern and well equipped Library at the University of Winchester houses a collection of almost 350,000 books, resources and receives some 8,000 journals. This stock covers all the subjects offered by the University, as well as many fields of general interest to serve students and staff of the University.  The Library holds the Customer Service Excellence award.

The Assistant Librarian will join a team providing an excellent library service to our customers, liaising with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Previous customer service experience in a library environment is essential. Experience of working in an educational environment would be advantageous.  You will be able to work with academic staff and students, show excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team, as well as on your own initiative.

The person appointed will be expected to work 18.5 hours per week. It is expected that the successful candidate will work all day Mondays and Fridays with the remaining hours to be worked agreed with the library.
