Business Research Support Officer

£35,090- £39,680 per annum inclusive of London Weighting

12-month contract starting on 1st April 2020, 5 days per week

Sole traders; start-ups; micro-enterprises; entrepreneurs; SMEs; charities; social enterprises; jobseekers - the City Business Library provides business information to anyone who needs it. Our customers have access to an array of business databases and publications too, including general start up advice, market research, company information, statistics and business news.

As a Business Research Support Officer you will make sure that all customers get the first class support they need. Ensuring that customer service remains a top priority and that customer expectations are exceeded at all times.

Day-to-day, you’ll assist people in person on our enquiry desk, as well as via the phone and email, by carrying out in-depth searches of specialist business electronic and printed resources. We’ll also rely on you to support our promotional programme to include attendance at trade shows, events and business networking events.

Helping to deliver group database training to a variety of audiences from young entrepreneurs to businesses looking to scale or export will be a key part of the role, plus keeping up-to-date with the latest thinking on how best to support small/medium businesses – all are aspects of this interesting and varied role.

Well-organised, customer-focused and with great analytical, research and problem solving skills, you have experience of working within a business research environment or in a specialist information service. You will also have a proven ability to deal effectively and efficiently with members of the public and are adept at delivering group training about business information and market research techniques.

Experience of using social media, Microsoft Office applications and databases are essential. What's more, you're comfortable giving presentations and attending networking events and great at forming effective working relationships with people at all levels.
