Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cataloguing and Serials Librarian to join the Library and Archive team at our new state-of-the-art HQ

The Royal Academy of Dance is one of the world’s most influential dance education and training organisations.  With its new global headquarters in London, our work takes us into diverse communities, locally and around the world to widen access to dance and to share the benefits and wellbeing that it brings. The Wolfson Library and RAD Archive houses an extensive collection of ballet and dance related materials.

As part of the small Library and Archive team, reporting to the Library and Archive Manager, you will contribute to delivering high-quality library services to all students, academics and staff of the RAD community as well as external researchers. Responsibilities include staffing the Welcome Desk, providing cataloguing, classification and metadata services for the library collections, organising serials and subscriptions, ensuring consistent, reliable and effective access to electronic resources, carrying out research requests; giving you the opportunity to work independently and proactively and use your initiative.

As Cataloguing and Serials Librarian, you will have:

  • demonstrable experience in cataloguing and classifying in a library
  • practical knowledge of research methods and information literacy skills
  • appropriate Library qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and proficient IT skills.
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to effectively understand user needs and enquiries

We have been teaching the world to dance for over 100 years and believe passionately in its power to transform lives for the better. Interested in the RAD’s past, present and future? We would love to hear from you!

In return, we offer 25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays, contributory pension scheme, access to the Perkbox discounts platform – including an Employee Assistance Programme, WeCare scheme, Bupa cash plan, life assurance, season ticket loan and cycle to work scheme. We also have a range of lunchtime activities including book club, dance, Pilates and a craft club.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We encourage and welcome applications from people with a disability, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people from the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Please let us know if you have any access needs for the interview.
