Co-secretary – CILIP ARLG Committee
Would you like to develop your skills and sector knowledge by serving as CILIP ARLG’s next co-secretary?
CILIP Special Interest Group ARLG (Academic and Research Libraries Group) is seeking a member to join the Committee and become our co-secretary.
Purpose of the Role: To support the Chair and committee by managing essential administrative and communication functions, ensuring smooth operation of ARLG activities and compliance with CILIP governance requirements, along with the co-secretary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chair in sharing information with committee members.
- Organise, take, and circulate minutes of committee and general meetings (including AGM). Meetings are usually online.
- Maintain committee records, such as member details and update CILIP HQ of any changes.
- Advise the committee on CILIP regulations, guidance, and governance matters, with support from the Chair and CILIP HQ.
- Support other officers with occasional reports or documentation.
- Opportunity to help organise events, projects, and marketing activities.
- Promote ARLG and CILIP membership benefits within the profession.
Time Commitment: Flexible hours, typically up to 12 per year for emails, plus attendance and minute-taking at the AGM (online) and 4 committee meetings per year (usually online). Additional time may be needed during events for organisational tasks.

- You will work alongside a co-secretary, ensuring shared responsibility and mutual support.
- Direct access to the Community Development Manager (England).
- Resources and guides and optional peer support through the CILIP Member Networks Online Community.
- A dedicated Office 365 account for secure communications and document management.
- Reimbursement of reasonable expenses such as travel for in-person events and a 10% discount on your CILIP membership.
