Co-treasurer – CILIP ARLG Committee
Would you like to develop your financial skills and sector knowledge by serving as CILIP ARLG’s next co-treasurer?
CILIP Special Interest Group ARLG (Academic and Research Libraries Group) is seeking a member to join the Committee and become our co-treasurer.
Purpose of the Role:
To oversee and manage the financial affairs of the ARLG Committee, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and compliance with CILIP’s financial policies, along with the co-treasurer. As Co-Treasurer, you will be a co-signatory of the ARLG bank account so will need relevant UK ID to register for this.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records and manage payments for committee activities, events, and sponsorships.
- Present a clear financial summary at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and complete annual financial reporting templates for CILIP HQ.
- Liaise with CILIP’s Finance Team, Unity Trust Bank and CCLA to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Advise the Chair and committee on financial matters and implications of decisions.
- Participate in financial planning and budgeting for the committee’s activities, e.g. paying event invoices and administering bursary payments.
- Ensure compliance with CILIP’s Treasurer Guidelines and Expenses Policy.
- Attend committee meetings (typically held online) and contribute to wider committee discussions and decisions.
Time Commitment:
Up to 3–4 hours per month, with occasional peaks around reporting periods or major events.

- You’ll work alongside a co-treasurer, ensuring shared responsibility and mutual support.
- Training will be provided.
- Direct access to CILIP HQ Finance and the Community Development Manager (England).
- Resources and guides and optional peer support through the Treasurers’ WhatsApp group.
- A dedicated Office 365 account for secure communications and document management.
- Reimbursement of reasonable expenses such as travel for in-person events and a 10% discount on your CILIP membership.
