Job Description

For informal enquiries, please contact Karen Jackson (Research and Academic Support Manager) at k.jackson.3@warwick.ac.uk.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join us as Collections Engagement and Outreach Officer. This is an exciting and varied role, working to engage audiences both within and without the University with our rich archive and library collections.

You will lead on developing and implementing strategies to raise the profile of our archive collections, and to place these at the heart of the University’s research and education strategies. A key element of the role involves designing and delivering engaging teaching sessions for a wide range of audiences, from school children to University researchers, to inspire interest and to develop competence and confidence in using archival sources.

You will contribute to the University’s Widening Participation Programme, using your creative skills to design and deliver engaging talks, visits and exhibitions, both physical and virtual, and to create vibrant online and social media content.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the University’s inclusive education strategy and to the Library’s civic engagement ambition.

This role will require a standard DBS check.

You are a passionate and inspiring communicator, with an ability to design and deliver teaching sessions to engage a variety of audiences, from school age children to University researchers. You have an interest in heritage and an enthusiasm for using archival sources to inform learning and research and to inspire passion in others.

You will be adept at building relationships with others and will be able work both collaboratively and independently, depending on the situation. Experience of leading successful projects would be an advantage, as would experience of working with archives in an educational setting.

This is an exciting role for a creative and digitally confident individual, committed to excellence and able to develop innovative approaches to service delivery.

For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.

This is a unique opportunity to join at a pivotal moment for the Library as we embark on the transformation of our services and launch a new strategy.

It has never been a better time to join the University as we celebrate our 60th anniversary and embark on a programme of transformation. To ensure we are ready to embrace our future the University will be developing our physical and digital infrastructure and services to significantly enhance our main Library and to maximise our digital experience.
