Job Description

Wolfson College is home to around 1000 students, from nearly 90 different countries, both full and part-time.  While most students are post-graduates we also have a significant number of mature undergraduates. Our College Librarian plays a key role in delivering academic support to this diverse community of students and scholars, supporting not only formal education and learning but also research and wider intellectual development.  Our librarian has an obligation and the opportunity to adapt the library’s services to the particular needs of our diverse student body many of who are “returners to learning”.

The College is seeking a highly motivated, qualified and experienced Librarian to lead our Library team in developing and sustaining an active programme of reader services and academic skills workshops. They will assume responsibility for both, running the College’s academic skills programme and the provision of all core library services.

The successful candidate will hold a Professional Library (CILIP accredited) qualification, have experience of a multi module Library Management System and cataloguing to AACR2 and MARC21 standards.

The salary for this full time post (37.5 hours) will be in the range  £33,797 - £39,152 (point 42 – point 47 on the University Single Salary spine), depending on experience.

While the College would prefer to make a full-time appointment, it may consider applications from experienced librarians for a post / posts with reduced hours, with a concomitant reduction in specific responsibilities.  Candidates should state clearly if they wish to apply for the post on a part-time basis.

Wolfson College has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
