CILIP North West Member Network is the voice for CILIP members in the North West, representing our members on national matters and offering support and professional development opportunities whether they live in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, the Isle of Man, Greater Manchester or Merseyside. We at CILIP North West welcome any CILIP Member volunteers who live, work or study in the North West!
“I volunteered for CILIP NW for 5 and a bit years. I originally joined the committee as I felt it was a good opportunity to give back to colleagues and to advocate for new professionals whose professional development opportunities have lessened over the years.
Whilst Chair, I gained more understanding of the wider library sector than I ever anticipated, and I was able to support the development of many of my committee members through opportunities to develop skills they may not have used in their professional role.”
Michael Cook, CILIP North West Member Network Chair 2014-2019
Whilst we are always after new voices for the CILIP North West Member Network Committee, it can be a challenge to commit the time and effort required. If this is the case, we would love your support in however you feel you can support – from giving us a hand organising/supporting an event to promoting our activities via social media, even sharing your expertise with your fellow CILIP members (such as writing a blog or even hosting a webinar) – any way you could help would be fabulous!
Volunteering provides us not only allows us to give back to the profession we care passionately about, but when volunteering for CILIP NW it offers plenty of opportunity for learning and networking from all across our varied and wonderful sectors that make up the library, knowledge and information profession.
