Core Collections Lead

HLG Committee roles are a great way to gain experience outside of your day job as well as an opportunity grow your skills and participate in an active and friendly committee.

We are currently looking for a new core collections lead to join our committee. HLG work in partnership with Tomlinsons to create core collections publications. The Core Collections working group work to create peer reviewed lists of books which can be used as guidance for health librarians in their collection development and acquisitions. Our collections include the Medical Core Collection, the Mental Health Core Collection, the nursing and midwifery collection and most recently the core collection of dental books.  You can find more information about these projects on our CILIP webpages.

Main duties:

• To coordinate the updating of these collections every five years by liaising with, relevant groups, and committees and where applicable convening a small working group to oversee the review
• Liaise with Tomlinsons regarding getting latest edition data and the publishing of the revised guides
• Ensure appropriate communicating and marketing to the HLG community (via the mailing list, newsletter, website, HILJ, conferences) to get engagement on contributing to the new editions and promoting new publications
• To promote the membership and benefits of HLG and CILIP within the library and information profession
• To attend HLG committee meetings and contribute to discussion and decision making
• To work with other officers and committee members to produce the yearly business plan and annual report
• To provide regular updates on actions and work activities to the honorary officers.

Time commitment:

The amount of time this role takes up will vary but may be up to 1-2 hour per week.
