Full time - 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Salary range: £26,751 to £30,962 (depending on qualifications and experience)
About the College
Homerton College is a self-governing college of the University of Cambridge and currently employs around 115 full and part-time support staff and around 70 full and part-time academic staff. The College also employs a bank of casual workers who provide additional support across departments all year round and some on a more seasonal basis. Homerton is one of the most attractive Colleges in Cambridge, with a mixture of old and new buildings set in spacious wooded grounds away from the noisy centre of town. It is one of the largest Colleges in terms of student numbers, with a thriving and diverse community.
About the role
Homerton College is seeking to recruit a full time, permanent Deputy Librarian to join the Library team. The post provides professional support and assistance to the College Librarian and is vital to the smooth and efficient operation of the Library, delivering a service to 1000+ students.
In particular, you will be responsible for:
- maintaining the borrowable children’s literature collection of the Library (c10,000 items)
- the social media output of the Library.
- the creation of marketing materials and documentation for the Library.
- the day-to-day management of the casual student helpers employed by the Library, recruiting and then monitoring their work and training.
- deputising for the Librarian one day a week.
Based at the enquiry desk, you will be the welcoming face of the Library and therefore good interpersonal skills are essential for this customer-facing role. You will also need to have a knowledge and enthusiasm for current children’s literature. Previous experience in producing marketing materials and using social media in a similar context would be advantageous, as would previous management experience.
