CILIP Government Information Group (GIG) needs you!

GIG is recruiting a new member to revitalise our committee. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape how CILIP GIG works to serve the needs of our sector. Being a member of a CILIP committee is a great way to develop skills and to grow your professional network. We meet up to 4 times a year. Committee meetings are held online, currently using Zoom.

We currently have a vacancy for the following role: Events Coordinator

Main task

To oversee and manage a programme of online, face to face and hybrid events for the Government Information Group.

Key Responsibilities

1.         To create an on-going plan of events in conjunction with members of the committee based on priorities set out in the business plan.

2.         To coordinate events on behalf of the Government Information Group including organising: venues / webinar platform bookings, speakers and bookings.

3.         Send detailed information prior to the event in the form of joining instructions to ensure that delegates have all the relevant information. Similarly liaising with speakers and venues to ensure that they have all of the information that they required.

4.         Regular checking and responding to the Info.GIG email account.

5.         Encourage members to get involved in organising GIG events and providing support for them to do so.

6.         Provide, or arrange for, on the day support to ensure that everything goes to plan and that issues are resolved.

7.         Provide information to the committee about events, including post-event evaluation.

8.         Maintain a log of past events to feed into the Group’s Annual Report.

9.         Where required, to assist the treasurer by managing events’ finances.

10.       To prepare and distribute event publicity liaising with other members of the committee responsible for marketing and publicity.

11.       To promote the membership and benefits of the Government Information Group and CILIP within the library and information professional.

12.       Support GIG in the delivery of CILIP’s equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.

 

Time Commitment

1.         It is anticipated you will attend up to 4 committee meetings per year.

2.         It is expected that you will attend the Annual General Meeting and members day.

3.         For the role of Events Coordinator allow for one to two hours per week, although this will vary. When events are being run the time needed may increase.
