ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. We are ranked in the world’s top 350 HEIs in the 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and in the top ten mainstream universities in the country for the proportion of UK undergraduates in employment 15 months after graduating. We have campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, London and Peterborough with around 2,500 staff and 35,000 students from 180 countries. With a focussed civic mission, we are committed to working with others through education, research and knowledge exchange to enhance the economic, cultural and social wellbeing of the communities in which we work and live.
About the Role:
The library provides a modern, comprehensive service in support of teaching, learning and research, blending the provision of traditional services with a flexible and innovative approach to service delivery.
We are seeking to recruit an individual at Cambridge to work in the Customer Services team of the University Library. We are offering a planned and supervised library experience. A range of developmental activities will be included in the timetable and visits to other libraries will be possible. There will also be the opportunity to participate in the learning and development offered to all library staff.
You will support the provision of front-line library activities and have the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience as a library support adviser working in a customer focussed environment. You should possess good interpersonal skills and be IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office. Some evening and Saturday work will be included.
The post we are seeking to fill is that of Graduate Trainee at Cambridge from 01 September 2022 – 31 August 2023. This role is intended for graduates wishing to gain a range of experience of library and information work before undertaking a postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information science so those with a library qualification will not be considered for this post.
