Wolfson College is seeking a conscientious, friendly and enthusiastic graduate trainee librarian who possesses a willingness to learn and has a demonstrable commitment to becoming a library and information professional.
Wolfson College is one of the largest graduate colleges in the University of Oxford. It has a strong egalitarian and democratic ethos and is increasingly known as one of the most energetic, innovative, and welcoming scholarly communities in Oxford. The modern Library has attractive reading rooms and breakout space on three floors and seeks to accommodate all of its 45,000 books on open access. It is open 24/7, all year round. The Library’s collections support graduate taught courses in a wide range of disciplines, the research of its Fellows and the intellectual pursuits of its Common Room. In addition, it has specialised collections in Philology, and Classical Indology, and an extensive poetry library.
You will have the opportunity to share in the day-to-day management of the Library, explore current trends in research support. You will participate in the Bodleian Libraries Trainee Scheme which operates under the SCONUL Code of Practice providing the necessary experience for application to a postgraduate course in Library and Information Management.
The post is open to all graduates with a good first degree in any discipline. You must be a skilled communicator with a flexible, customer-focussed approach and a desire to progress to a postgraduate qualification.
