Head Librarian

 

Full time, term time plus six additional weeks

We have an exciting opportunity at Shrewsbury School for a Head Librarian to be responsible for providing the leadership and management of our Library service.

An important part of this role will be to promote independent learning within the school, working with the Heads of Faculty to support this as part of the overall academic provision.

A proven track record of success in managing and developing a library is a key requirement. The candidate should have the knowledge and experience to implement an appropriate library management system and should have the ability to be a publicist for the Library around the school community. 

It is desirable that the successful applicant will have Chartership or Fellowship with CILIP or equivalent, and have achieved a CILIP accredited Library and Information Studies degree or equivalent. Leadership and senior library environment experience is essential in addition to good interpersonal communication and time management skills.
