The Head of Open Scholarship Support is an exciting new role, based within the Bodleian Libraries and providing strategic leadership in the areas of Open Access, Open Research and Scholarly Communications, working in partnership with researchers and staff across the University of Oxford.
You will have responsibility for developing strategy and policy for Open Scholarship and Open Access, ensuring any developments meet the needs of the University researchers from across all disciplines.
This is an exciting time for Open Scholarship and Open Access at the University of Oxford. In particular, as Head of Open Scholarship Support you will play a key role in the implementation of Plan S and the outcomes of the UKRI Open Access Review. You will also be working with researchers to shape and support the rapidly evolving areas of Open Science and Reproducible Research.
You will have a deep understanding of the scholarly communications landscape, in particular with regards to open access, open research and research data management, both within the UK and globally, and the ability to undertake sector wide advocacy and engagement. You will also be educated to postgraduate level, with a strong track record of strategy and policy development, combined with excellent communication, influencing and team working skills and the ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with academic and professional staff at every career stage.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Scholarly Resources, you will have responsibility for leading the newly formed Open Scholarship department, which comprises of a small team of experts in the area of Scholarly Communications. As such, you will have significant experience of leading, managing and developing staff.
