Information Governance Manager (Remote)

The Role
Title: Information Governance Manager
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum
Benefits: Pension, company benefits and potential bonuses
Contract: Permanent (subject to a three-month probationary period)
Hours: Full time
Location: Remote, with occasional UK travel (typically London)
Reports to: Head of Information Law Services
Direct reports: None (supported by Information Coordinator and wider team)
Key Responsibilities
Working with your assigned clients, you will:
- Provide expert advice on compliance with information rights legislation including UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, PECR and related frameworks.
- Review, monitor and advise on data protection compliance documentation.
- Manage and respond to clients’ GDPR/Data Protection queries and support needs.
- Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests for applicable clients, including application of exemptions/exceptions and redaction.
- Manage data rights requests (including SARs), drafting responses and applying exemptions/exceptions and redactions as required.
- Draft Data Protection policies, procedures and Privacy Notices.
- Advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), including implementation and outcomes.
- Support clients with the management and investigation of data breaches.
- Conduct data protection compliance audits.
- Act as the main point of contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), where required.
- Audit clients against ICO codes of practice and relevant guidance.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of information rights legislation, guidance and developments.
- Produce blog posts and client communications for Naomi Korn Associates.
- Respond to enquiries via phone, email and video call.
- Produce regular client reports (monthly/quarterly/termly depending on contract).
- Deliver public and in‑house training courses as part of Naomi Korn Associates’ training offer.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience as a Data Protection Officer or Information Governance Professional, including FOI casework.
- Experience working in the education, charity and/or public sectors.
- Strong organisational skills, with experience managing multiple clients or work packages.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and quality standards.
- Experience delivering training, or a willingness to develop training skills.
