Information Officer - Law - London    

A prominent UK law firm that is based in London has a requirement for an Information Officer to join the firm initially on a 3 month fixed term contract. This is a role that can be either full or part-time.

In this Information Officer role, the core responsibilities will be around providing a mix of legal research, current awareness, providing training and the provision of support across the firms information and knowledge provision as a part of a small and close-knit team. 

The specific responsibilities and objectives of this information officer role include a mix of the following:

  • Conduct legal and business research to support marketing, BD, pitches, tenders, events, and recruitment.
  • Support in providing a current awareness service (Vable) – including daily horizon scanning, tailored alerts, and usage reporting.
  • Maintain and update the firm’s intranet (SharePoint) – including knowhow pages, news, resources, and media content.
  • Support knowledge management by organising and indexing knowhow in collaboration with practice groups and PSLs.
  • Deliver induction and user onboarding, running weekly sessions, managing access to subscriptions, and distributing welcome materials.
  • Assist in managing print and digital collections, including archiving, weeding, and maintaining an A–Z guide of online resources.
  • Deliver training sessions for trainee inductions and refresher updates

To be a suitable candidate for this Information Officer role, candidates will require the following:

  • Previous experience in an information services or knowledge management role, ideally gained in a legal setting
  • Strong legal research skills utilising resources such as LexisNexis, Westlaw and Practical Law
  • Ideally, some exposure to the provision of current awareness, this firm uses Vable
  • Some previous experience training new starters, lawyers and other stakeholders on information resources
  • Refined relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ideally, a Library Science or related qualification
