Job Description

Information Officer - Law

A leading UK law firm with an international presence has a requirement within their Knowledge and Information team for a Information Officer. This is a broad information role that covers legal and business research, library management and some knowledge management, and works within a small close-knit team. This role would be well suited to someone seeking their second role as an information professional.

In this Information Officer role, the successful applicant will have the following responsibilities:

  • Supporting lawyers with provision of a centralised legal and business research service
  • The production of current awareness bulletins
  • Hard copy and online resource management
  • Acquiring and cataloguing of materials
  • Serials management (KnowAll) and use of the Library Management System
  • Supporting the Information Services team with projects and other duties as directed by the departmental lead

To be a suitable candidate for this Information Officer role, candidates will require the following:

  • Some previous experience in a similar role as an Information Officer, Information Assistant or perhaps as a Trainee Law Librarian
  • Experience undertaking legal research and using resources such as LexisNexis and WestLaw
  • Ideally, a Library Science qualification but this is by no means a pre-requisite for someone with some prior relevant experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Some previous experience using mainstream library management systems such as KnowAll
