K&IM: Commercial, Legal and Scientific Information professional Committee Representative

The CILIP Knowledge & Information Management Group

CILIP’s Knowledge & Information Management Special Interest Group (K&IM) aims to bring the advantages of professional knowledge management and information management to the economy and society.

We aspire to help CILIP become the recognised professional body supporting knowledge and information professionals to deliver high quality, evidence-based, accredited services, and develop & progress their careers.

Membership is for anyone who is currently working in, or with an active interest in, the areas of Information Management and/or Knowledge Management.

 

CLSIG Committee Representative on the K&IM Committee

An opportunity for a new committee member has arisen due to the merger between Commercial Legal and Scientific Information Group (CLSIG) and K&IM.  This is an opportunity for a member working in the area of commercial, legal or scientific information management to become part of the vibrant K&IM community and to ensure that CLSIG members feel represented within the K&IM field.

Duties as a Committee Representative:

  • Represent Your Field: Attend committee meetings and act as a voice for your field within CILIP.
  • Provide Expertise and Opinions: Contribute your knowledge and perspective to the K&IM Committee.
  • Support CILIP Members: Support and advocate for the needs and interests of CLSIG members.
  • Liaise with K&IM: Keep your members informed about K&IM business and contribute to the K&IM business plan
  • Promote CILIP membership: Particularly within the Commercial, Legal and Scientific Information communities

Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of the sector-Broad knowledge of your field and ability to communicate with your members.
  • Excellent communication skills – Share feedback and represent members; contribute to group discussions during meetings; Active listening and engagement.
  • Leadership and representation – Advocate on behalf of your members and act as their voice; Take initiative in raising issues and highlighting successes.
  • Teamwork and collaboration – Work effectively with other committee members and representatives; contribute to a collective decision-making process.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills – the needs, concerns and ideas of members

Other requirements

  • A CILIP individual member with current membership.
  • Working in, or knowledge of, the Commercial, Legal or Scientific Information field.

Time commitment

  • We hold ten one-hour online meetings per year.We encourage members to attend a minimum of 6 per year.
  • Time to liaise with your committee and members
  • Occasionally, extra meetings may be needed. However, notice will be given if this situation arises.
  • Committee members receive a 10% discount on CILIP membership
