Job Description

Knowledge Management and Information Advisor

Exciting opportunity for a knowledge and information professional to join a growing law firm with offices across the Midlands, as well as in London and Sheffield. The successful candidate will support the Head of Information with all aspects of knowledge and information management and research. This opportunity would be ideal for someone looking to join a small team with a varied workload.

Your key duties will be:

  • supporting a broad range of knowledge management work alongside the Head of Information and PSL’s.
  1. working with colleagues to manage and develop Knowhow, its reuse and exploitation through precedents, practice notes, training and knowledge packs;
  2. undertaking legal and business intelligence research to provide support with client matters and business development activities. This service will include Horizon Scanning ensuring our legal teams are up to date with the latest developments, trends and other changes in their focus specialisms and specific clients;
  3. providing provision and support with knowledge-based client marketing (newsletters, seminars, social media), so that the minimum amount of non-chargeable time is spent for the maximum return
  • raising awareness of knowledge management resources and providing training to ensure resources and systems are used efficiently and productively
  • managing and evaluating of the available research resources and databases to include archiving, password management and general knowledge management housekeeping duties

Skills and experience you will have:

  • a minimum of 12 months’ recent experience working within a law firm in a similar knowledge management or information services role
  • legal research skills and experience working with legal electronic databases
  • an understanding of knowledge management principles, procedures and processes
  • strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • an LIS qualification is highly preferred but not essential
  • some experience of managing budgets and negotiating with suppliers is preferred but not essential
