Job Description

Law Librarian – part-time 3 days per week

A respected national law firm has a requirement for a part time Law Librarian to work in their Tunbridge Wells office.

  • Preparing and managing the library budget
  • Managing annual subscriptions to online resources and journals
  • Maintaining library collections in Tunbridge Wells and London offices – liaising with users to decide on purchases, purchasing titles and processing invoices, cataloguing, archiving and weeding out obsolete material
  • Managing professional membership renewals and set up
  • Developing research skills in the trainee solicitor, paralegal and apprenticeship
  • populations
  • Delivering induction sessions for new joiners
  • Responding to research and other ad hoc requests
  • Managing catalogue software and managing upgrades as required
  • Providing current awareness services
  • Providing training on online information databases as needed
  • Joiners and leavers administration – logins for approx. 10 online services
  • Troubleshooting e.g. ICT problems, login problems, faulty links
  • Journal circulation
  • Updating loose leaf publications

Requirements:

  • Experience within a professional services environment, ideally legal
  • A minimum of three years within an information services role carrying out a full range of information activities
  • Accustomed to dealing with external suppliers, senior internal colleagues and support staff at all levels
  • Accustomed to delivering work to commercial and financial targets
  • Proactive and accustomed to working without close supervision but maintaining a regular
  • information flow particularly with team members and all internal clients.
  • Preferably a graduate, ideally with an information qualification recognised by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) or a qualified librarian
  • Candidates qualified by suitable experience will be considered
