LGBTQ+ Co-Chair Role Description
Purpose of role: To act as one of the leading officers for the CILIP LGBTQ+ Network. Inform the decisions made to raise awareness and advise Library, Knowledge, and Information workers in the UK on LGBTQ+ subjects. This role is open to people who identify as LGBTQ+ or Queer.
Responsibilities:

Coordinate the activities of the LGBTQ+ Network and ensure it meets its core offer and annual priorities as set out in the business plan.

Act as lead spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ Network and where appropriate, represent the LGBTQ+ Network at CILIP meetings and external events and where necessary, organise alternative representatives.

To work with other officers and committee members to prepare the business plan and annual report.

To liaise with the other co-chair & secretary regarding communication with committee members.

To work with the chair and treasurer to maintain an effective overview of the financial position of the LGBTQ+ Network.

To be the key link with CILIP to ensure professional issues relating to Network members, and collaborate with the other committee members on initiatives and responses to policy developments.

To promote the membership and benefits of the LGBTQ+ Network and CILIP as a wider organisation within the library and information profession.

Free memberships for library and information workers from BAME backgrounds
As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, the CILIP Board has set an organisation-wide goal of 20% ethnic minority representation on all of CILIP’s boards and committees by the end of 2022. To facilitate this, we are offering up to 150 complimentary memberships to library, knowledge and information workers from ethnic minority backgrounds who are duly selected to join a committee before the end of 2022. This offer is open to CILIP members and non-members.
The amount of time this role takes up will vary and may be 1-3 hours per month and during conference and other events may increase.
