Libraries and Customer Services Manager

Job Description

We seek a highly motivated and experienced manager to join us in supporting the Culture and Information Strategic Manager with strategic planning for the council’s libraries and customer services.

The library service includes branch and mobile libraries, multi-service centres plus schools and prison library services.  You will also assist with strategic planning for the councils’ customer service facilities in conjunction with the Customer Strategy and Development Team.

You will need to demonstrate considerable leadership, managerial and communication skills to enable you to develop and deliver high quality services relevant to the needs of local communities within a rural authority.  This will include ensuring that the library service promotes the health and wellbeing of all users.

We are looking for someone who can utilise a comprehensive project management approach, to implement best practice and who has experience of successfully managing budgets and taking projects from inception to launch.

Equally important an ability to demonstrate the flair and imagination required to meet the challenges now facing council services. This is an exciting opportunity for the post-holder to develop the role, seeking out new opportunities to enable efficiencies, working in partnership with third sector organisations and proactively seeking opportunities to utilise new technologies.
