Job Description

The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the world's largest law schools. With an impressive history dating back to 1876, we employ over 900 staff and have over 14,000 students studying on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with an alumni network in excess of 100,000. We were the first-ever independent institution to be granted degree awarding powers and in 2012 we gained university title. With a rich heritage and a reputation for innovation and contemporary teaching practices, we continuously focus on developing the best legal and business minds. In 2016, we opened our leading Business School, further enhancing our reputation as a full service legal, business and educational training specialist, operating from campuses throughout the UK, Berlin and Hong Kong and an Online campus.

What really sets us apart from other universities is the guiding principle that future lawyers and business leaders should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context, with plenty of practical interactive engagement. That's why we keep our contact hours high and our teaching groups small.

We are looking to recruit Library Learning Advisors across our Campuses as we expand the Library learning support for our Digital Academy and new Academic Model. We have the following vacancies in the following Campuses.

London 1.2 FTE

Birmingham 1 FTE

Bristol 0.3 FTE

Leeds 1 FTE

Manchester 0.5 FTE

The focus of the role will be

  • Assisting in the delivery of high-quality library and learning services to students and staff of the University of Law, supporting the new academic model and the Digital Academy.
  • Enabling students and staff to develop strong information and digital literacy skills through the provision of specialist training and support, in order to facilitate successful learning outcomes

We are looking for confident (and, ideally, qualified)  library staff with excellent customer service skills, who are familiar with e-resources and who can contribute not only to their Campus team but also to our team of cross-Campus Library Learning Advisors to complete projects, share knowledge and develop innovative ways to support learners.

We offer an excellent range of competitive benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, private medical scheme, contributory pension scheme, life assurance, training and qualifications, and travel loans.

Please note, CVs will not be considered and only application forms are accepted for this role.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact susan.oakes@law.ac.uk. or graeme.lockheart@law.ac.uk

No agencies please.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check - you will be notified of this during the application process.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals are currently under-represented within the University – which does not reflect our diverse student body - we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates. All appointments will be made on merit.
