This is an exciting opportunity to join Bristol Libraries’ management team of 4, as the Library Service Development Manager. There are 27 libraries in Bristol and we are in a time of change and collaboration with communities to extend the use of the service and buildings. We are building and establishing partnerships and working on projects throughout the city.
You would be responsible for the citywide development of the service by managing the Reader Engagement Team and IT roles. We are focusing on community collaboration with the Reader Engagement Team that comprises Library Development Officers, Volunteer Coordinator, Early Years, Reader Development and Children’s Librarians.
Our Library Development Officers are putting into action the community-led ideas and suggestions, from a period of comprehensive engagement. We are working with children, Bookstart, schools and young people, and curating and promoting a range of adult events and activities via our Reader Development Librarian; growing our volunteering programme with new roles, and promoting all our services through social media. Bristol is a vibrant and independent city with a rich cultural offer and we are uniquely placed to offer quality and community events in our neighbourhoods.
You would manage the IT support posts as we enter into a time of re-procurement of our self-service kiosks. You would also be the lead for any building projects as we work closely with Property colleagues, but always in collaboration with colleagues in the management team. You would work closely with the management team, representing the service at city and regional meetings as we also work as part of the LibrariesWest consortium.
You would be an experienced manager able to demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects and staff, working at speed with an empathic approach to communities and residents who are an essential part of our service, as we shape services locally to reflect their priorities.
