The Cataloguing & Indexing Group (CIG) promotes best practice, actively contributes to the development of metadata standards and formats, and provides opportunities for learning and professional development. The committee are pleased to offer CIG members* the opportunity to apply for the voluntary post of Marketing Officer.

*Please note that non-CILIP members can be co-opted on to Committee but are expected to take up CILIP membership following one year in post.

JOB DESCRIPTION - Marketing Officer

SUMMARY

The Marketing Officer creates, co-ordinates and runs the Groups’ marketing activities and campaigns in collaboration with the CIG Committee and relevant external organisations.

The role is key to advertising the existence, remit and activities of the Group and to ensuring that we retain and grow our membership and support the extended community of practice.

This role would suit a strong and confident communicator as it requires excellent communication and writing skills. Ideally you should also have previous experience of marketing activities and possess design/graphics skills. 

MAIN DUTIES

Liaising with key contacts to design, provide or procure marketing and advertising support or materials for the Groups:

  • Events*
  • Publications
  • Training*
  • Biennial conference*

*Which may be delivered face-to-face or online

Planning, developing and delivering campaigns as agreed and within specified timescales

Evaluating the effectiveness of marketing activities and producing reports for the quarterly committee meetings

Managing the budget allocated for purchasing marketing materials or services to support the Group’s activities and events

Investigating sponsorship opportunities to create or enhance existing partnerships and spread the costs of events, activities and publishing

Ensuring that the Group supports and has a presence at CILIP regional events

Designing and analysing the results of membership surveys to guide committee decision making

Advising on the emergence and implementation of new and innovative ways to communicate the Groups message

Contributing to the Group’s Annual Business Plan
