We’re looking for a new professional to join the Board and be part of a changing CILIP
A lot of work is taking place at the moment to create a new and improved CILIP, an organisation that represents and develops the sector, that supports members throughout their careers and provides quality services and excellent value for money. The CILIP Board is responsible for setting this strategic direction and has been championing the development of these changes.
In 2017 we appointed our first new professional trustee because we wanted to enhance the Board with a fresh perspective and ensure that the voice of this vital part of our membership was present in CILIP decision making at the highest level. Chloe Menown's appointment is coming to an end and we now wish to invite another new professional to replace her on the Board.
You will be within the first five years of your professional career and will bring fresh thinking, your own networks and a contemporary set of skills. The Board works as a team but each individual brings their own ideas and insights which inform what we do and how we do it.
Joining CILIP as a trustee will give you the opportunity to gain experience and develop skills that you would not usually have the opportunity to acquire until much further on in your career; a broader knowledge of the profession, strategic decision making and leadership of an organisation. You will see behind the scenes at your professional association and gain an understanding of how an organisation works in a role where you can make a genuine difference as part of the trustee team.
Don't worry if you haven't got experience in this type of role - you'll receive a full induction and will also have an experienced Board Member to act as your mentor.
We believe our decision-making board should bring a collection of different skill sets, perspectives and experiences and for that reason we welcome applications from those working in every sector of the profession, including public, private and third sector.
CILIP Trustees are volunteers and this position is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. You must be at least 18 years old to be a Trustee and an individual member of CILIP. You should already be professionally registered with CILIP (ACLIP/MCLIP/FCLIP) or willing to commit during your term of office to becoming so – we will support you through the process.
If you are interested, we encourage you to come and observe the next Board meeting on 29 March at CILIP. If you would like to discuss this opportunity, please contact CILIP's Chief Executive, Nick Poole, at email@example.com, or ask Chloe Menown any questions you have about her experience on the Board at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applications close at midnight on Tuesday 16 April. Interviews will be held in May.
