New Professionals Support Officer
Volunteer Role
The CILIP East of England Regional Network is looking to recruit a highly-motivated individual as a New Professionals Support Officer to network, support, and organise events for librarians and information professionals in the first five years of their career.
This role would suit an enthusiastic LIS student keen on bringing people together, a recent graduate who still holds strong links with their respective department and fellow students aiming to grow alongside their cohort, or a more seasoned practitioner with the drive to uplift the future of the profession.
Your target audience would primarily (but certainly not exclusively) be people based in the East of England.
Role Profile:
Main Task(s)
To support and advocate for the needs of new professionals in the East of England Region.
Key Responsibilities
1. Liaise with incoming, current, and recently graduated LIS students based in East of England.
2. Organise and hold, at minimum, two CPD events each year which cater to the needs of this group. Further events (socials, networking, etc) are encouraged. The committee will offer support, both financially and logistically.
3. To advertise the benefits of CILIP membership to this group.
4. To attend and contribute to meetings of the CILIP East of England Regional Members Network.

Time commitment
- As a member of the CILIP East of England Regional Member Network you will be expected to attend at least one meeting per year and provide written reports on activity to the Chair. Travel expenses will be paid, when necessary.
- To be an active and visible presence around CILIP’s annual New Professionals Day (usually held in October).
