We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated professionally qualified librarian to join the Oxford Health Library Team.

This part-time post offers an exciting and rare opportunity to join a successful and experienced NHS LKS team delivering high quality and much valued library services to Oxford Health FT staff and stakeholders.

Making a real difference to the lives of patients and service users and proving that proactive information services can save them time and help them do their jobs better are just some of the additional benefits that can be realised by the successful applicant.

You’ll be prepared to make the best use of the electronic, physical and staff resources available, including the provision of complex literature searches, information literacy skills training and information consultancy for those unable to easily access NHS library services.

You will be a good communicator, sharing responsibility for marketing and promotion at group inductions and Trust events, facilitating access to networked and web-based services including NHS OpenAthens, delivering and developing current awareness services, tailored to customer’s requirements. You will work with the library team to ensure that the all library related activities are proactively delivered, actively marketing the service and supporting teams and individuals in engaging with the evidence base. You’ll have the ability to create and maintain positive working and customer relationships. Contributing to monitoring the effectiveness and quality of the library service is also a key element.

Your role will also include liaison with the OHFT Learning and Development Team based in Unipart House, ensuring effective links are maintained and developed between library services and course programme leaders for the growing number of courses offered including apprenticeships and masters level modules. You will share with other outreach librarians, responsibility for design and delivery of suitable training to support the information skills needs of those undertaking courses and other groups.

The post offers the opportunity for an experienced librarian to develop existing and gain new skills including taking advantage of the excellent links and collaborative opportunities offered through extensive NHS and academic LKS networks.

We provide library services to all NHS staff and students of OHFT based in primary care, mental health and community settings, as well as Commissioners and Public Health professionals where agreements exist. The library service has three physical libraries: Warneford Library (main, Oxford), Whiteleaf Library (Aylesbury) and Littlemore Library ( Littlemore Mental Health Centre, Oxford). The library staff also work closely with NHS library colleagues across Thames Valley and Wessex and the South.
