Research Analyst – Law – London or Liverpool

As part of growth plans, an international law firm with UK operations in both London and Liverpool has multiple requirements for Research Analysts to support the business development and market intelligence strategy of individual practice areas in the firm. In this role, candidates will be providing a reactive and proactive research/analysis service with a view to gaining insights that will be used to ensure that the firm maintains its competitive advantage. The firm is looking at acquiring individuals who can offer existing experience and expertise and also those with potential to grow their skills within the role.

The responsibilities and objectives of the Research Analyst include, but are not limited to:

  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of the business objectives and strategy of the individual practice area
  • Building relationships with internal clients such as BD, Lawyers and sector leads to understand their requirements
  • Define and respond to incoming research/analysis requests and to concurrently service an agenda of research projects
  • Taking data and information from multiple sources and distilling this actionable insight and more digestible format
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of both key clients and the firms principal competitors
  • Horizon scanning and the identification of hot topics, key trends, risks and tactical opportunities
  • Working with and supporting the wider Knowledge and Information function of the firm

To be a suitable candidate for these Research Analyst requirements, candidates require the following:

  • Experience in a similar Research and Analysis role where the emphasis is on delivering insight, ideally gained in a legal, professional services or market intelligence setting
  • An ability to take data and information from a range of sources and distill this into actionable insight
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with a wide variety of research databases and resources such as Mergermarket and Manzama
  • Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of how business, market and competitor insight assists in achieving the firms wider objectives
  • A good understanding of the role of knowledge management as a strategic tool
