Research Library Consultant

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s Library and Research Center (LRC) is looking for a Research Library Consultant to develop and deliver the research and reference services and ensure the availability of data and information resources of the Bank. The LRC is responsible for leading the library and information research programs and services including the acquisition and management of electronic resources and subscription of databases.

The Research Library Consultant role is an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced researcher/ librarian who will be able to establish and demonstrate the value of modern library services within the context of AIIB’s missions and strategies as a multilateral development bank (MDB) focused on developing Asia, but with members from all over the world.

Job Description:

• Lead and undertake simple to complex business, investment, finance, legal research on requests from clients.
• Work independently with the bank’s internal departments to proactively identify needs and perform for in-depth research services when aware of users' areas of interest.
• Maintain ongoing liaison with project and investment operations, banking, finance colleagues and other teams across AIIB departments to understand the context and specific information needs, filter, organize reports and research results to provide expert professional advice according to the clients’ needs.
• Build strong relationships with clients and contribute to research-based analysis and peer-to-peer learning, and knowledge sharing.
• Assist clients by facilitating their research work and providing reports, and help evaluate and validate information, especially data or information generated by AI to advance information integrity in the AIIB’s projects and investments.
• Offer customized training and consulting on research tools and library resources to clients.
• Maximize the utilization of information databases Bank-wide by promoting subscribed resources and organizing database vendors’ training.
• Liaise with relevant LRC team members regarding library resources and collection-related acquisitions and payment processing.
• ·•Manage the LRC’s technologies by serving as the technology contact for vendors and reporting on updates to the library systems.
• Develop and maintain a user-friendly LRC intranet and provide user-friendly enhancements in line with sound information architecture concepts.
• Create and publish topical research guides which align with the AIIB’s information and knowledge needs.
• Develop media-monitoring procedures and deliver information alert management, information product management, and related services as required.
• Take an active role in the development and the delivery of LRC training programs and learning opportunities by organizing seminars, conferences or symposium.
• Develop and implement LRC policies, standards, guidelines, procedures and tools.
• Provide training and guidance to junior team members in carrying out their assigned works, particularly in developing subject matter expertise and tools.
• Represent LRC in internal and external meetings, forum, committees, task forces and projects aligned with position responsibilities.
• Other relevant tasks and projects as assigned by the Head of Information Management.

Qualification Requirements:

• Postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as Library and Information Studies, Public and Development Administration, Public Policy, Economics and Finance etc.
• Minimum 5 plus years of experience in information reference and/or research work
• Robust experience in handling research and reference requests and able to manage multiple stakeholders, build strong relationships, communicate effectively, comfortable working in large, complex environments, highly credible and persuasive.
• Strong communication skills, and highly credible presentation skills
• Proven ability to influence, interact, and consult with staff, management and strong collaboration skills
• Comprehension of a diverse set of knowledge and information products and research tools and technology use including AI (Artificial Intelligence) and various databases such as Bloomberg, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, LexisNexis, Factiva, Fitch, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and other relevant development and investment databases commonly used in international financial institutions.
• Familiarity with library platforms such as OCLC, Insignia and familiarity with, copyright, intellectual property and other compliance matters, including data privacy, and ethical use of information.
• Demonstrate the ability to operate in a multicultural environment and build effective working relationships with internal/external clients and colleagues from a diverse global workforce
