An exciting opportunity is available to join the Learning and Discovery Services Team.

 

Role

We are currently looking for a Senior Library Assistant to support the delivery of our services to students and staff. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and versatile individual to join this vibrant service.

A key part of your role will be assisting the Library Manager (Enquiry Services) supporting the co-ordination and delivery of the library enquiry service. This will include the rota management of the enquiry services and coordination of eresources troubleshooting.

You will also play a key role in supporting the delivery of the services of the Student and Academic Services team working closely with a variety of teams both within Library Service and across the University.

You will provide essential advice, guidance and support to distance learning students and staff using a variety of tools including web chat, phone, email.

The University is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role as per the requirements laid out by UK Visas and Immigration regarding Right to Work in the UK.

 

Skills and experience

You will be comfortable with technology, have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in your work. You will also have well developed customer service skills. You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and the ability to make effective use of a wide range of IT applications including excel for data analysis and presentation.

Due to social distancing measures this position is initially home-based. Typically, the position is based at the OU’s Milton Keynes campus, in easy reach of Milton Keynes Central railway station (32 minutes from London Euston) and the M1 and A5. Future campus-based working may be required.
