Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and experienced librarian to join the Academic Services section of the University of Bath Library in this new Subject Librarian role.

About the role 

You will provide exemplary services and support for the School of Management, working with and reporting to the School Librarian. You will have responsibility for the provision of library induction, information skills teaching, liaison, enquiry handling and the development of library collections to support all library users within your nominated areas/Divisions within the School. You will participate in appropriate School meetings, and build excellent professional relationships with academic and professional staff in your areas.

In collaboration with the School Librarian, you will manage expenditure of the Library materials budgets for the School, taking responsibility for decisions on purchase and subscription to the electronic and print materials required to support teaching, learning and research. This will require close liaison with the School to gain a full understanding of their resource needs at all levels. 

Subject Librarians take on additional areas of responsibility appropriate to the role and service requirements. In this post you will also have responsibility for co-ordinating the Library’s work with schools and colleges, supporting the work of the University’s Widening Participation Team.

You will work closely with the School of Management Librarian and collaboratively with colleagues across the Library, in Academic, Operational and Research Services. You will liaise with publishers and professional groups, ensuring you keep up to date with developments in resource provision and new publishing models, and obtain best value for money in purchases and subscriptions. 

Experience of supporting subject disciplines and resources relevant to the School’s teaching and research interests, or similar subject knowledge would be advantageous. 

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.
