Systems Librarian

We're looking for an experienced Systems Librarian to join our small, friendly team at the Bank of England. 

The Systems Librarian runs the library management system (currently Soutron) and other information systems such as EBSCO Discovery and Ebook Central.  They also maintain and develop the Information Centre's intranet and Sharepoint pages.  They generate regular statistical reports and provide analysis from a variety of data sources. 

You will need excellent IT skills including advanced understanding of Excel, knowledge of library metadata, and programming languages such as R or html.  You will carry out regular enquiry desk durties providing colleagues across the Bank with information they need to carry out their roles in support of the Bank's mission.  We encourage and support professional and personal development.

Salary and Benefits Information

We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements.  Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
This specific role offers a base salary of £36,320 per annum on a full-time basis.  

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

  • A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
  • A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
  • A 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.   
  • 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
