Job Description

The CILIP North West Regional Member Network Committee are recruiting a Vice Chair, with the aim that you will take over as Chair after a suggested period of 12 months.

Volunteering for the Committee is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience for your professional development, your professional registration, and your CV.

 

Purpose of the Role

To provide assistant leadership to enable the Chair to meet the Network's aims and objectives.

To take on the Chair’s role, when the Chair steps down.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. To assist the Chair in ensuring that the mission and aims of the network are clearly defined and in-line with CILIP’s overall mission and aims.
  2. To lead committee and other meetings when the Chair is not present.
  3. Contribute to committee event and activity planning throughout the year.
  4. Act, alongside the Chair, as the voice of CILIP in the North West.
  5. Support the Chair in their role, taking on some of the Chair’s workload when necessary or when asked to.
  6. To promote the membership and benefits of CILIP NW and CILIP.

 

Time Commitment

  1. We have hour-long committee meetings monthly, held over MS Teams. You are not expected to attend every meeting, just when you are able to.
  2. It is expected that you will attend the AGM and Members Day, and every step will be taken when planning the day to ensure all of the committee will be available. The AGM and Members Day is held annually in various locations around the North West, and is held in-person.
  3. We do not expect you to be able to commit to attend every event you are involved in creating, we do expect at least one committee member to be present at each event we host but we encourage this workload to be shared throughout the committee. Events will be held either online or in-person around the region.

We understand this is a voluntary role, and that individual availability may change throughout the year. We aim to be a flexible committee to fit in with your work/life balance, whilst providing you with the opportunity to gain professional experience by supporting a regional network. This role descriptor is not exhaustive as we encourage you to make this role your own.

Current member of CILIP (The Library and Information Association)

Obtained CILIP Professional Registration, or consider working towards it

Evidence of recent work* in a library or related service area.
